Authorized employees of www.hivconnect.net may view this information for the express purpose of improving the functionality of our site. This information may also be monitored for adherence to our Terms of Service (hyper link to TOS) Any personally identifiable information submitted to www.hivconnect.net is subject to disclosure pursuant to judicial or other government subpoenas, warrants, or orders.
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Registration
www.hivconnect.net requires you to provide a screen name and your e-mail address when you register. This information is used to approve access to the site and to contact you, if necessary. To help us better understand our users, and help members within the same region find each other we also request your country of origin and zip or postal code. 
We will never disclose personally identifiable information to any third party without your express permission. 
Profile and Blog Privacy
All profiles are protected by a screen name that is chosen by the person who creates the profile. This person is called the 'member'.

To ensure all profiles and blogs are private and secure, each is protected by a screen name. This name is chosen by the member, the person who creates and updates the profile and blog information. 
Portions of profiles are available to the general public, other portions are private or 'locked'. Members have the option to protect the private portions of their profile and 'unlock' this portion on a member by member basis. 
Blogs can be 'locked' (made private) for all members based on the member's preference and unlocked for individual members or all members. 
Access a profile
To access and view any portion of a member's profile, all visitors must be registered with us.
Profile Creation and Use
Any information collected during registration or in the use of www.hivconnect.net will never be publicly linked with an individual's name. However, it may be used by us to better understand our users, and may be shared in aggregate form with our healthcare partners.
We do allow registered members within the private community of a www.hivconnect.net to contact the other members via e-mail and instant message. 
Security
www.hivconnect.net takes every precaution to protect your information. At this time, we do not collect any sensitive financial information, such as credit card or social security information, from our users. All of the information submitted to our site is tightly controlled within our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected screen savers when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to your information. 
Furthermore, all employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new privacy policies are added, our employees are notified and reminded what they can do to ensure our users' information is protected.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on your computer's hard drive. They are created by many Web sites you visit, usually to help you navigate a Web site as quickly and easily as possible. Surveys and Questionnaires
We use voluntary online surveys and questionnaires to improve our service. This feedback may be shared in aggregate form with our healthcare partners. No personally identifiable information will be revealed. In addition, you may be offered the opportunity to provide anonymous feedback a healthcare institution through an online questionnaire. This information is private and will be transmitted only to the institution in question.
We may occasionally send e-mails to our members to request feedback about our service. These questionnaires are used solely for the purpose of improving our site. A convenient link will be provided on such e-mails for members to remove themselves from these communications.
We allow Health Care providers and others within the Health Care Industry to invite members to external surveys for the sole purpose of gathering data for HIV research, education and treatment. We assume no responsibility or liability for the independent policies, procedures, privacy initiatives or content of these surveys or Health Care providers.
Public Forums / Private information
www.hivconnect.net provides its users with messaging services, such as a message board, in which they may communicate with the community. The user's screen name and message will be disclosed within this limited community.
Any content entered on a blog or other private portion of a profile is posted and available to everyone who has accepted an invitation to access that particular member's blog or the private portion of their profile, but is not otherwise publicly available on the Web. Members who voluntarily participate in using www.hivconnect.net, must keep in mind that the information they disclose can be collected and used by others who visit that profile.
Visitor Referrals (Invite)
Anyone who visits www.hivconnect.net can use our "invite" referral feature to inform their friends about our service. This feature allows people to send a one-time e-mail invitation to visit www.hivconnect.net. The e-mail addresses that are entered through this feature will be strictly used for this purpose and will not be recorded. 
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If your personally identifiable information changes (such as your e-mail address), or if you no longer desire to use our service, we will provide a way to correct, update or remove your personal data provided to us. You can correct or update your information in the My Account section of our Web site. To remove your personal data, please contact us at Customer Support Team. 
Choice/Opt-Out for Communications
www.hivconnect.net members are automatically sent a welcome e-mail after they register and a confirmation e-mail when they create their profile. 
Members request to receive all communications from www.hivconnect.net, such as promotions, newsletters or information from sponsors, at the point of registration. Members may alter this choice at any time through the My Account section. Alternatively, they may remove their name from any e-mail lists regarding special promotions and other information, by following a convenient link provided in these messages.
We may occasionally send e-mails to our members to request feedback about our service or to inform them of any significant changes. These questionnaires are used solely for the purpose of improving our site. A convenient link will be provided on such e-mails for members to remove themselves from these communications. In addition, members may be removed from all communications at any time by contacting our Customer Support Team.
Children's Guidelines
The nature of www.hivconnect.net service appeals to all Internet users. Although we do not specifically market our service to children, we are committed to providing a safe online community for every user. 
Parents and those permitting minors to use the www.hivconnect.net site should be aware that any information voluntarily given by children in chat sessions, e-mail exchanges, message boards, etc., may be used by third parties to generate unsolicited mail or other contact with children.
